From an eight-year old's point of view, I was thrilled and wanted all his buddies lined up on my bedstand. From a 31-year old's perspective, it was a neat marketing strategy between Lego and Mcdonald's. So this character designer basically sits with the marketing studs and they devise methods to get kids hooked onto happy meals. They ought to put 2 lines of text describing the character in the pamphlet so just in case the kid wants to brag about his toy, he has something to say to his soon-to-be-jealous friends. This description is present on the website, not with the toy. Agreed, kids are more imaginative at that age, but a short intro kick-starts their imagination to spin their yarn further.
