Right in the maddening crowd- changing perception of language

In our wonder years, people would question our upbringing if we blurted something like 'shut up you bloody bastard' in public. Word would spread in the community on where the Kariyal kids learn that kind of language and where they will end up one day. Today, next to this baby talk, 10-year-olds can accuse one of one's relations with one's mother and sister (with a few animals thrown in) not only with great eloquence, but also not have anyone in the vicinity bat an eyelid. Language, usage and perception have changed manyfolds today. Expressions used to cuss at someone can also be used in admiration, for example- that son of a bitch completed the task in just two days; in exclamation- you lucky madafaka. 'Get out of here' is not only what you'd say to unceremoniously throw someone out of your house but is also an expression of disbelief. Some of the expressions find their way into corporate board rooms; 'bitch' meaning to loose-talk about someone (typically the press about the company) and 'kick some ass' is used to motivate a team. 'Bitch' is openly used in our hindi movies along with a slew of altered profanities in hindi- 'bhen ka takaa', 'teri maa ko pranaam karoo' subtly tickling our street selves. Recently, an ad showed a kid making a pass at an attractive woman- 'kya item hai'. Now here's my favourite website-http://www.bosedkdesigns.com

zaraa hat ke, zaraa bach ke, yeh hai dilli meri jaan

Despite all that I have to say about the city when my car gets busted, bad drivers et all, what about Delhi makes me proud? Here's a list-

- Metro

- Lotus temple

- Khaja Chowk

- number of art galleries, theatre, movie halls

- Dilli Haat

- CNG deployed

- in close proximity to the hills and Rajasthan

perception the way you want

Tomorrow, before you-

-get dressed in the morning in a hurry

-face snarling traffic

-see an unpleasant sight

-breathe polluted air

-eat food that puts you off

-get spam phone calls in the middle of an important meeting

-step into a puddle

-run out of money

-miss a good movie

-cuss at someone driving badly

before any of these things happen, in the morning, look into the mirror, right into those sleepy eyes and say, I love you.

All of me...

On Zoom, Pooja Bedi interviews Diana Hayden and asks her what qualities she wants in her man. Diana says she wants him to be honest, faithful, ambitious, handsome and must have a good sense of humour.

This ain't Scandinavia, sweetheart, but we'll find a way for you to marry all of them someday.

Now how does a reclusive, dreamer type like me find this bitchy, shallow channel so engrossing?! It's sad, but I gotto to do something worthwhile with me life now... like watch the rest of the program...

Wordpress it is!

I have moved to Wordpress. After much introspection and discussion on what Blogger and Wordpress are capable of, I figured a one-stop shop...
