paheli was a good one. from what i heard, a lot of people couldn't digest the fact that a woman was in love with a ghost who imposes as her husband and also bears his child- and that it was rediculous. i guess people are not used to indian folklore in movies. but it's ironical that movies like lord of the rings and harry potter are greeted with such aplomb! jeez man... colonial hangups i guess. anyways, good thing someone from bollywood tried this... and that too on an indian novel.
loads of songs in this movie... i would have walked out had it been any other flick... but this was made palatable thanks to the art direction, backdrop - paintings on the walls, colors... lots of red, pink and yellow used in the movie. only a movie made in rajasthan could get away with overdose of it... but it was used in good degree. these are very vivid and lively colors to work with... it's been a long time!
rani mukherjee's amazing back... this is the second time... directors have fallen for her back... banti aur babli being the other time.
bulleting across rajasthan... ouch... a dream postponed...
time out needed to pack a slr and a sketchbook in a rucksack, sit astride a royal enfield and ride off to anywhere
