delhi metro rules

13 bucks. thats what it costs now to travel from home to connaught place in an air conditioned coach, in 35 minutes- waiting time included. a month back, the ideal mode of public transport for daily commuting would be a chartered bus that would cost Rs. 15; delhi's heat, humidity and chills thrown in. getting there would take at least an hour. add another 15 minutes to that during the monsoons since the roads come apart whenever it rains... but now, these things are history. awesome!

... and no jaywalkers.

dear jaywalker, to you, dedicateth I, this ballad.

here's an ode dedicated to jaywalking morons who jump onto the road... right in your way-

marne ka hai kya? pitne ka hai kya?
kheech ke do lapak ke padne ka hai kya?

chalna nahi aata tujhe sadak pe ya footpath
to jaa saale pakad apni mummy ka haath

sadak thaari baap ki to bol de advance mein
na karoonga rukaavat aage tere dance mein

gene kelly hain shaane, singing in the rain
to ticket kataa hollywood ka, dont be a pain

gaadi ke neeche tu aaya to maroonga main
galti hogi teri lekin bharoonga main

chalna nahi aata tujhe sadak pe ya footpath
to jaa saale pakad apni mummy ka haath

yellow rajasthan

paheli was a good one. from what i heard, a lot of people couldn't digest the fact that a woman was in love with a ghost who imposes as her husband and also bears his child- and that it was rediculous. i guess people are not used to indian folklore in movies. but it's ironical that movies like lord of the rings and harry potter are greeted with such aplomb! jeez man... colonial hangups i guess. anyways, good thing someone from bollywood tried this... and that too on an indian novel.

loads of songs in this movie... i would have walked out had it been any other flick... but this was made palatable thanks to the art direction, backdrop - paintings on the walls, colors... lots of red, pink and yellow used in the movie. only a movie made in rajasthan could get away with overdose of it... but it was used in good degree. these are very vivid and lively colors to work with... it's been a long time!

rani mukherjee's amazing back... this is the second time... directors have fallen for her back... banti aur babli being the other time.

bulleting across rajasthan... ouch... a dream postponed...

Wordpress it is!

I have moved to Wordpress. After much introspection and discussion on what Blogger and Wordpress are capable of, I figured a one-stop shop...
