yellow rajasthan

paheli was a good one. from what i heard, a lot of people couldn't digest the fact that a woman was in love with a ghost who imposes as her husband and also bears his child- and that it was rediculous. i guess people are not used to indian folklore in movies. but it's ironical that movies like lord of the rings and harry potter are greeted with such aplomb! jeez man... colonial hangups i guess. anyways, good thing someone from bollywood tried this... and that too on an indian novel.

loads of songs in this movie... i would have walked out had it been any other flick... but this was made palatable thanks to the art direction, backdrop - paintings on the walls, colors... lots of red, pink and yellow used in the movie. only a movie made in rajasthan could get away with overdose of it... but it was used in good degree. these are very vivid and lively colors to work with... it's been a long time!

rani mukherjee's amazing back... this is the second time... directors have fallen for her back... banti aur babli being the other time.

bulleting across rajasthan... ouch... a dream postponed...

how to stay handsome all your life

i found this somewhere...how to stay handsome all your life-

1. eat ice cream like a kid. this keeps you happy. when happiness shows on your face that makes you smile. you can wear a smile with anything.

2. respect your body. work out. for men, physical exertion is critical since sweating helps create emotional balance. when you are emotionally balanced, it creates happiness. when happiness shows on your face, it makes you smile. you can wear a smile with anything.

3.work on your vocabulary. this helps you express yourself clearly, correctly and optimise everyone's time. this creates a positive image of the self which creates happiness. when happiness...

4. do not disparage or slight others on what they look like or what you hear about them. create your own judgement based on your own experience. this way, you will come across as a unique, genuine person. this creates happiness...

5. do not expect respect from anyone. this shows dependability on others' opinion on the self. face the truth in tight situations.

6. nature has it's own way of balancing things out so try not to owe money/anything tangible to anyone. this creates you know what...

by the way... all this has nothing to do with looks!

---------------------------------------------------------------
some of the most hillarious dialogues in the same movie-
-"i'm pregnant" (on seeing test results)
-"i have nothing to wear" (before going to a party)
-"can i have some privacy please" (when someone is watching while using the loo)
-"i want my baby!" (arguing on abortion)
-"my body, my choice" (before delivering the baby)

more flicks

ya i like words aparna. like torrential. last night we had torrential rains.
it rained torrentializationalistically.
i was in awe. awe-mazed. a mazda rx8 is da one way to go wondering what it would be like wandering in the wilderness with a long and winding road, wide, with the wind in my hair with a wanderlust and a plate of vindaloo.

batman begins has to be the best of all the batman movies made as of now. there was a science to his creation- the psyche, suit, batmobile (it's based on a bat lunging forward), cape. i liked the fact that they bothered to get into the details- kind of slowly building a base to the story before making sequels so the foundation sets into your mind. movie ends with a lead to the joker... nice!
some great scenes-there was this awesome shot of bruce wayne closing his eyes and standing in the cave when the bats surround him... dark, morbid visions of batman when viewed under the influence of the gas...

there were buddhist monks in the theatre. i guess the oriental thing in the beginning caught their fancy!

flicks

saw sarkar. although rgv gives the 'disclaimer' in the beginning that it's a copy of / tribute to 'godfather', word is that its based on bal thakeray. whatever... how was the movie? 4/5. had it been an original script i'd say 5/5. sound used very well.

henry kissinger apologises for calling us Bastards and Bitches. well, in the 70s that may have come across as offending but today, anything worth a second look is done by the big b's. if we were found threatening 30 years back, too bad for our yankee poopoos.

oooooh... I called them yankee poopoos... oooooh... now they'll probably have some technology to trace anti-american sentiments and have everyone apologise... oooooh...

Wordpress it is!

I have moved to Wordpress. After much introspection and discussion on what Blogger and Wordpress are capable of, I figured a one-stop shop...
