Janu and Kameen were kissing. Kumlu pu was planted on his spot- gaping like a mannequin. Mochi was a few steps behind Kamlu- watching all three. He looked at Kamlu, then walked up slowly behind him and peered into his eyes; wanting to fathom what he was going through. 'Is this going to drive him hysterical? Will he give me grief for the next 2 weeks on how lousy life is getting to be? Am I on the brink of receiving 1/2 hour lectures on why women can be done without in a happy-go-lucky life?' Both were not very keen to run into the couple. One was too disgusted, the other mortally petrified to be picked upon for intrusion.
So they turned for the river.
Kamlu sat silently on a rock, staring into the water. Mochi waited for something to be said. He finally gathered the courage to break the awkward silence with yesterday's discussion thread on why monks are allowed to play and watch football in monastries- because it's better to think about football than other things.
'Zip it, Moch.'
'I was just trying to...'
'Make me feel better?! Why don't I just sing my favourite song to feel better? Hey, you know what- I'll do just that. Here goes-
condescender pu
stick a knife in you
that will make me go- boo hoo hoo'
'You need help.'
'Shaadaap!!'
'What's got into you? Forget about it, will you? You didn't stand a chance next to Kameen. He's got the goods- know what I mean? And stop taking it out on me. That's all you can do- take it out on your favorite punching bag instead of biting the bullet and doing something about it. I bet you didn't have the balls to speak to her all this time, so what's the point... jeez dude, you're pathetic.'
Look Mochi, you're not much help. You're all I got, man. The thought of him holding onto her... I bet he forced her... but she wasn't struggling.. ouch.. that hurt. She kind of looked like she was into the idea of liplocking with the village studd... vindication it is, with which she can now look staight into the eyes of the other 'babes'- the real babes.'I can not only make the boys laugh, this too.' Sick, sick, sick. Hasn't she ever noticed me?! What about that day I dressed up looking like the studious type? That was the very next day I overheard her saying that she prefers the academic ones since that's where the future is- a stable future. It's another thing I couldn't answer a single question in the oral exam our teacher sprung upon us. Jeez that was embarassing... but I was all out that day- wooing her with future plans of heading for this university or the other. I'm such a fool.'
'Alrighty, enough of the I'm-such-a-pathetic-shit ones. What are you doing about this?'
'I've thought of something.'
They both sat there starring at the river.
time out needed to pack a slr and a sketchbook in a rucksack, sit astride a royal enfield and ride off to anywhere
