matchstack

I like stacking up used match sticks like this in my kitchen. But it was Apoorv's eye and traditional film slr camera that makes it look so good! More of his pictures here.

Checked out Jumper and Enchanted- both good. Jumper was like watching a personal fantasy. But then, I don't quite agree with getting there instantly. travelling is all about the journey. Once you reach the destination, it's downhill from there. Enchanted is a good family flick. Take your kids along!

a monkey, three elephants and a book

fighting for some timeout at the Oxford bookstore, Statesman building.

Now that's how I like my chai, thank you, sir.

Caught a few more flicks- Mithya, PS I love you, Jodhaa Akbar and Reservation Road. Something is seriously wrong with the way the movies are getting reviewed in the papers. Jodhaa Akbar has Hrithik reaching a new level altogether and Ash looking as ethereal as ever. PS I love you was a good flick and has a very good ending. The reviewers have to be disgruntled for some reason to rate these movies so poorly. I'd give them my piece of mind had their been some sort of a 'click here to respond to this review' button on the newspaper. I guess that's a little way ahead in the future. Whatever... I'm glad I saw these movies coz I know better now. Couldn't see Rama Rama kya hai drama because the show got cancelled.
"Kyon bhai why did it get cancelled?"
"Sir, nobody comes for it."
It had to be a really bad one, I figure. Aargh- missed it.

Other random thoughts- was looking at a Honda logo in the traffic. If you move the letters around a bit, you get 'Dhano'... chal Dhano aaj meri ijjat ka suwal hai...

flick week

recommended in order-

american gangster- Dont miss. the highlight of the movie was towards the end when denzel and russel crowe talk things out. very reminicsent of the face to face between robert de niro and al pacino in Heat.

death at a funeral- a family tries to give their dead father a dignified funeral. It starts with the caretakers bringing in the wrong body. Hilarious. See if you can catch this.

across the universe- if you've grown up on songs of the beatles then dont miss this one. All the numbers are placed in situations that give them a whole new meaning - I'm talking about songs like I wanna hold your hand, hey jude, dont let me down, across the universe and strawberry fields foreever. This is what makes their music timeless. They apply to today's times, any time- with the war and everything. this was a special screening for 3 people in the hall. Wave has the best seats and they beat pvr when it comes to space.

fool's gold- ok dokie nice one. if you enjoy stuff like national treasure check this out- but its not on the same scale.

sunday- no comment. but you have to see ones like this to appreciate the good ones!

mediocre times

check out some more flicks- national treasure, alvin and the chipmunks, alien vs predator and hall bol. recommended is hall bol. its kind of funny that people thronged to see aliens and om shanty om and deserted a very good movie like halla bol. visibly the film makers ticked off quite a lot of people and rediculed popular icons. no wonder it didnt get good reviews. i'm convinced. paper reviews of movies are totally skewed by ulterior motives. i'm glad i saw it despite a rating of 1 in most newspapers. its off the halls now but do check it out at home. in times when people do not want to be awakended from their peaceful slumber of senseless living, flicks like these wont pick up.

on other things, went for the photo exhib of henri cartier bresson at ngma today. his work and the life he has lived are enviable. this masterpiece by him was there- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Photo_cartierbresson_europe.jpg
these pictures were taken mostly in 1932. today's photography pales in comparison.

like samuel l. jackson's character says in the movie 'unbreakable'- these are mediocre times.

Wordpress it is!

I have moved to Wordpress. After much introspection and discussion on what Blogger and Wordpress are capable of, I figured a one-stop shop...
